Italian Hall in Port Colborne

Weddings, Celebrations & Community Since 1935

What We Do

The Italian Canadian Cultural Centre (ICCC) was established in 1935 and operates today as a full-service banquet hall and event venue in Port Colborne, ON.

We host wedding receptions and private events, including engagement parties, birthday parties, and celebrations of life, along with community events throughout the year, and takeout from our kitchen for anyone craving a taste of Italy.

Our Guiding
Principles

The ICCC was founded on principles of Canadianism, the promotion and preservation of Italian heritage, mutual assistance and fellowship, and the personal development of its members.

  • Promote Canadianism while keeping our members’ connection to their Italian heritage alive
  • Support the intellectual and social development of our members
  • Build relationships with all ethnic groups in our community
  • Share Italian culture with the wider community
  • Promote welfare and fellowship among our members
  • Maintain and grow the facilities that support our mission

History of the Italian Hall

1935

The ICCC, then called the Italian Mutual Benefit Society of Port Colborne and Humberstone, was founded by 35 Italian immigrants.

The society was incorporated as an insurance society by the Province of Ontario, using membership fees to support members through illness or death.

1939–1945

The Second World War strained the organization due to poor relations between Canada and Italy, but it also strengthened bonds among members. After the war, a wave of new Italian immigrants joined, and the society began working toward a permanent home.

1952–1953

The society purchased land and built its first hall on the present site. The hall opened on December 4, 1953.

1977

The hall underwent a major expansion, bringing its capacity to over 500 people.

1984

The Italian Ambassador to Canada, Paolo Fulci, cut the ribbon on a new clubroom, and future Prime Minister Jean Chrétien later visited the hall. The decade also brought a shift toward recreational activities, including shuffleboard leagues, dance classes, sports sponsorships, and community trips.

1994

The society became a non-profit organization and took on its current name, the Italian Canadian Cultural Centre of Port Colborne (ICCC).

2002

The ICCC successfully introduced a new, renovated hall to Port Colborne and the surrounding areas, modernizing the space further to meet the needs of couples and clients.

Today

Our history shapes how we approach every event we host today. The Italian Hall continues to serve as a gathering place for Port Colborne and the Niagara Region, hosting community events and private celebrations.
